Childhood obesity is on the rise that’s why we should be teaching youngsters how to exercise properly and letting them get in a good ab workout as early as their preschool years. Youngsters nowadays aren’t balancing energy intake and energy expenditure, leading to obesity. They are exposed to a huge variety of foods, mostly convenient and highly processed fast foods that come in big portions. And with the arrival of television, remote controls and computer/video games, it is no wonder that youngsters have ‘forgotten’ to make proper exercise a part of their lives.
The single largest factor in childhood obesity is lack of physical activity and excessive sedentary behaviour-watching too much television and playing too many video games. This sedentary lifestyle is the greatest risk factor when it comes to collecting fat around the abdomen. Abdominal fat is the invisible fat surrounding the inner organs, which gives the stomach its roundness and height.
It is more dangerous to have a lot of fat in the abdominal area than in the thighs, hips and butt because abdominal fat actually enters the bloodstream and wreaks havoc on the liver, blood fats, blood pressure and blood vessels. The result is an increased risk of heart disease with every increase in waist measurement. Sugar metabolism is also slowed down because the body’s insulin doesn’t function as well as it should.
But health risks can be dealt with relatively easily. Exercise is the best way for the body to rid itself of abdominal fat. Exercising at least twice a week for at least half an hour at a time decreases incidence of abdominal obesity. And parents can encourage their children to be more active and join organized sports, dance classes or just being outdoors more instead of letting them be couch potatoes and playing computer and video games all day long.
Educational institutions should also ensure they have an interesting and modern lineup of P. E. programs and activities, like kickboxing, swimming, dance, and even martial arts that can entice students to readily participate and ingrain the habit while young.
The community-at-large (including restaurants and schools) can offer smaller food portions and better food choices, meaning foods lower in fat and sugar and higher in complex carbs, protein and fiber. Parents need to be conscious of the example they’re setting and so have to serve well-balanced, nutritious meals at home and even whien packing lunches.
There is an unfortunate correlation between the increase in child obesity and the popularity of video games. In addition, a decreased interest in customary outdoor play, overuse of the internet and the proliferation of television programming contribute to the rise in childhood obesity.
However, teaching youngsters how to exercise properly as part of their ab workout program can still be done. It is never too late to teach them how to enjoy physical activities on a daily basis, to choose better quality foods and to impart the wisdom of portion downsizing. Ballet has always been associated with females. When little girls are asked what they want to be, they always want to be a ballerina. It may seem a little odd if a little boy tells you that he wants to be a ballet dancer. There is a basis for this, it is true that most ballet dancers are females and you will seldom find male ballet dancer.
One of the main reasons for this is that somewhere across the years, the original idea that ballet dancers were men has been lost. Back in the Italian Renaissance period it was only men who danced on the stage. They would dress up as women wearing a hoop-skirt that would end at their knees. Known as a tonnelet, this would help identify their roles in the ballet as female. Over the years the number of men who perform ballet has diminished considerably and today comparatively few males enter this predominantly women’s world.
Why Little Boys Should Do Ballet
Enrolling your son may be a good idea for you, but your son may not be as optimistic. While you may see all the advantages that your son can get from ballet, he may see otherwise. All he can see are the disadvantages that he can get from ballet classes. Boys usually are the most gender-sensitive people. They always want to look tough and manly. This is why when you want your son to enroll in ballet classes, you need to remember that this is not as simple are enrolling your daughter in the same class.
In order to convince your son to join ballet classes, he must already have an interest towards the dance. If at an early age, your son had shown interest in dance or ballet, then you should enroll your son in ballet classes as early as possible. This will allow them to develop a liking for the activity without any outside influences. When they grow older and have more friends, they may get influenced by stereotypes that ballet is a girl thing. Suggesting that he take classes at a later age will further lessen the chances that your son will like the idea of ballet.
How to Convince Boys
Hollywood has been kind to parents who want their boys to at least try ballet class. With movies such as Billy Elliot and Center Stage showing not only that boys can do ballet, but also that they can be normal cool kids – they just enjoy dancing. “So You Think You Can Dance” on TV is a great way of showing your son that although his friends aren’t interested in dancing, there are plenty of other boys who are!
If you can find a ballet school, or even a class, that’s all boys then you’ll have an easier time convincing your child that he’s not the only boy in the world taking ballet class! He will be part of a group of boys who are all interested in learning how to ballet dance and will give him a network of friends who share his dance interest. Make sure you point out how strong ballet dancers are, and how the flexibility he learns at ballet can help him in other sports.
Once you get him enrolled, you need to keep him enthusiastic. If he’s serious about it, he’ll find a passion that none of his peers will be able to knock down. Part of his ballet training will allow him to walk tall in a self-assured manner that his classmates will eventually give up trying to break. They may not understand what he does, but as he develops more confidence and strength from his ballet training, they’ll be less inclined to mess with him. Until then, you need to keep an eye on what’s happening and not allow other kids to stop your child doing what he wants.

What you can save from buying cigarettes is extremely huge.
If the idea of quitting for the sake of improving your health is not motivating to you, perhaps you’ll have a sudden impulse to stop after you do the math of how much smoking costs you. Cigarettes are sold in increasing prices, plus there is the growing cost of living, which make it doubly difficult for many families to live on their budget. Saving money, in whatever way, is certainly a very big help. Even the price of stop smoking aids come significantly cheaper than the price of continuing to smoke.
