Grills And Cooking Food
Posted by Dan Smith | Under exercise Saturday Jun 13, 2009Grills are a part of our world heritage now because of their popularity in all countries. Grills are typically either charcoal or gas.
Worldwide grills have been made and used for years now. However, in the United States, grills did not really get their start until E. G. Kingsford, a relative of Henry Ford, suggested that a charcoal plant be placed next to Ford’s car plant.
Outdoor gas grills were not actually invented until the 1960s when two men who worked for a power company were told to create a new way of selling and encouraging people to buy and use natural gas. These two men were William G. Wepfer and Melton Lancaster. We can be assured that the profits of the power company went up after the invention of the outdoor grill due to its popularity.
Typically charcoal grills use lump coal in order to cook food. The grills come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.
Sizes that grills typically come in are square, rectangular or circular. There is also the option of a lid or no lid for the grill. Venting systems and heat control systems also come in handy during the cooking experience.
The burner is perhaps the most important part of the grill because it provides the heat by which the food is cooked.
The materials used for gas grill burners are normally stainless steel, aluminzed steel or cast iron.
Other important parts of the grill include the cooking grid, rock grate and heat shield. The grid holds the food above the heat while the head shield protects the burner from the dripping of fat, grease and other objects that may fall during the cooking process. The rock grate is also designed to do this purpose and disperse heat to get a better cooking experience.
