There are many advantages to taking part in Yoga, but unlike other exercises there are many different yoga poses to be learned which is why I have decided to tell you about some of the main ones so that you can learn this age old art of stretching to give yourself a better body, relaxation and improve your inner strength.
As with most things you wish to learn, it is best to start off with the basics and work up to the more complex poses with time once you have mastered the easier ones. The bridge pose is a good one to begin with but you need to make sure you stretch first to avoid injury.
This one involves you making a bridge with your back arched and towards the floor hands stretched behind you keeping your feet on the ground also. You can see how this pose got its name. There are a lot of variations to this kind and to list them all would mean I could not tell you about the others!
Strengthening your core can help both in day to day activities as well as any exercise or sports you take part in. This can be achieved with many different poses that are part of yoga. One that is common is the cat pose. If you have ever seen a cat stretch you will know where this name came from.
You need to begin on all fours with your legs together and arms straight down in front of you. Slowly arch the back to point towards the ceiling and then return to the starting position.
There are some of the exercises you are able to do in a standing position. They vary as to their benefit but are all steps in the right direction. If you suffer from tight hamstrings and wish to lengthen them you will definitely benefit from the big toe pose. You then have to keep one leg on the floor and put the arm on the same side of the body down also. While doing this keep the leg from the floor aligned with your torso and your free arm stretched upright.
Meditation is just as important as the other kinds as you need to have a healthy body as well as mind. This means allowing free flowing thought so that you don’t have bad thoughts holding you back from inner peace. There are various poses that can be taken while meditating and although some can take to them straight away others may take longer. It is not about competing to be the first if you are working as a group or with a friend. It is about you making yourself healthier both inside and out. Your are in the middle of doing something of importance when all of a sudden you get a pang in your tummy. You had finished your meal very recently and all of a sudden you are hungry again. You are on a diet though and would like to keep it that way. You wish you had some good diet snacks around.
What are my healthy snack options? Is it alright to go to a vending machine and grab a bag of chips?
One thing I would have to say about this is to not go grab it from a vending machine. All vending machines tend to have the tendency of having nothing but unhealthy foods that are fattening. These kind of foods are high in fat and a lot of simple crabs. They are the kind of food that are mass produced to be sold at cheap prices. They are also the kind of food that are packaged and preserved in unhealthy ways. There will occasionally be a vending machine with a good option or two though. They will have things like whole wheat chips or some dried fruit. There are even some refrigerated machines that have foods like yogurt and milk. Try to avoid vending machines if you can though. There is always going to be a better alternative.
The best snacks would have to be whole delicious foods. These kind of foods include apples and other fruits as well as vegetables. A good orange is better than donuts. If you’d like you could make a sandwich with whole wheat bread and lots of vegetables and a low fat sandwich condiment. Just be creative and you will find some great ideas!
The number one rule about snacking would have to be to count the calories in what you’re about to eat. Try to stick around the three hundred to four hundred calorie range. This way you can avoid eating a whole meal instead of just enjoying a good snack.
It would probably be best to pack a snack ahead of time. You never know when you’re going to want one. Most people crave a bite while at work or doing something that requires them to be in one spot. I can tell you about my fight with weight loss, but you came here about your own. I have been laughed at, pushed, jostled, and embarrassed. I have been the butt of the jokes. I have hated shopping in the women’s section for fat peope clothes. You know, stylish tents. I have been humiliated trying to get out of a car, and sneered at in a nice restaurant. You suffer and you cry.
Your answer is here! You know what you need. You need a solution. You need to get out of the rut, and get away from the yo-yo. You’ll know it when you find it. You look and look and look. You try, but it doesn’t work. It’s so hard. There has to be an easy diet. It seems like no diet, low fat, low carb or whatever food management system is going to save you. But you have hope. We have to have hope. You’ll try again.
Count calories? Experts say counting is the true way to lose weight because 3500 Calories is one pound of fat. I’ve counted, and weighed my food, and tallied my points. I’ve increased my MUFAs and gained weight. How about the Hoodia pills? What the heck is coming next, an Oprah Diet? Oh, yeah, Oprah now has one, and Atkins, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystems, and Weight Watchers and the next and the next. Even Jarrod from the Subway ads has a diet. And you say, “Yeah, but a diet? UGH!” Low carb, Key West, grapefruit, low calorie diet food? Yuck! What happened to FLAVOR? A nice chocolate milkshake might be my friend, but a diet? No. Not my friend.
I’ve tried the diets. More than that, I have been through all of the bad things, the humiliation, the jokes the embarrassments. I hated every minute of it. I made a promise to myself that it was going to stop. Now it is time for you to do the same.
