Doing lower ab workouts and why this may actually be setting you up for failure is a question you may be wondering about. Most people focus on lower ab workouts when they want to get ripped abs thinking it’s logical – there’s a flabby problem area so let’s work in that area to fix it. But your body doesn’t operate that way. Flab means there’s fat so you need to lose the fat first and no amount of isolation exercises can burn that fat away.
So many times, we see ab machines and ab exercises that focus directly on the abs. These products claim that by using their products you will lose inches from your waist and flatten your belly. In reality, they don’t work. Spot reducing does not work.
Training just the abs, will not give you rock hard abs. Isolation exercises like ab crunches or lower abdominal strengthening will strengthen your abs, but it will not give you the definition that you want. In fact, you may not notice a physical difference from training the abs only.

Exercise may not be high on your favorites list. Or maybe it is but it just isn’t denting that last bit of weight. If you try these simple steps, you can lose ten pounds in five weeks.
An easy and quick thing to start with is to skip the salad dressing – use herbs to jazz up your salad. Typically this can save you eighty calories per tablespoon – which can add up to four hundred calories per salad or even more! You can also use vinegar or lemon juice for flavor if you like. If you are a big salad eater – this alone can really help your progress!
Another simple tip to help you cut back on calories is to exchange your whole milk with skim milk. If you drink more than one cup of milk a day, try trading just one cup of whole milk for skim milk. If you don’t drink a cup of milk, you probably use whole milk in your coffee, cereal, etc. Be sure to exchange the whole milk for skim milk. One cup of whole milk has 150 calories, whereas one cup of skim milk has 80 calories. So if you switch out your whole milk for skim milk, you will trim off 70 calories a day.
Another fantastic tip is to eat your sandwiches as open-faced sandwiches. In other word, avoid the top piece of bread on your sandwiches. If you do so, you’ll save about 8o calories per sandwich. If you eat one sandwich a day, you will save over 5 hundred calories in a week.
Most of us drink beverages that have about 250 calories in each serving. A can of soda sometimes has 250 calories, and even vitamin water has about 150. If you can just cut out 250 calories of liquid a day, by the end of one week, you will have cut out 1750 calories.
The prior four tips are good suggestions to help you still eat the same quantity but consume less calories. To help lose those 10 pounds, you can also eat less. Try and eat slowly. Research shows that you eat about 60 fewer calories per meal when you slow down your pace. Therefore , if you eat slower for all three meals, you can cut 180 calories a day.
To recap, if you want to lose ten pounds in five weeks, you can do so without any drastic changes, simply: cut out liquid calories, eat open faced sandwiches with only one piece of bread, nix the dressing on your salads, and take your time when eating.
