What Is Wrong With Me? I’m Not Losing Any Weight! Help!?

Friday Dec 18, 2009

I have been working out for about a month very diligently and have cut my calories down to between 1200 and 1500 a day. I work out about 5 times a week for between an hour to 1.5 hours. I do mostly cardio like the elliptical, biking, and sometimes the treadmill. I also do workouts on the rowing machine and the stair master. I also do some weight training like with 5 pound weights to tone my arms and such.
I have been eating pretty good food (a thousand times better than I did before). I eat whole grains, fruit, protein, and more vegetables than I ever have (I should probably eat more but I still eat a good amount compared to what I used to eat). I rarely have anything with sugar and if I do I make sure they are low in saturated and trans fats and that they fit into my calorie allowance.
I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day too. I also walk across my huge campus every day, so its not like I sit around all day either.
I haven’t seen the scale move at all. I lost one pound but now its back, plus one more. I don’t see any difference in my body (I know its early but still)
Am I doing something wrong? I’m about 20 to 30 lbs overweight. I’m 5′ 8″ and 175 lbs. I don’t know why the weight is coming off.
Please Help! I just want to be healthy and fit and nothing I do seems to work! I also do not want to take an diet pills or acai berries. I just want to do it naturally. Thanks!

maybe you should start off by eating less and eating healthy. Loose weight first then excersize.
Once you have lost some weight and are happy with the size you have become, then add in the exercise to gain muscle.
If you are 175 now and are exercising a lot, you are going to gain muscle on your body now. Basically you will stay the same size but become muscular. And I have a feeling you don’t want to stay the same size. (I’m also 5′8… I weigh 140 and am trying to get to 135)
I am currently in the same situation as you. I tend to gain weight in the winter. Sooo… what I am doing right now is something called a herbal detox (by wildrose) it is all natural and comes with a huge list of foods you should and shouldn’t eat during the detox. Basically no yeast or sugar.
Anyway, it’s very healthy and forces you to eat extremely healthy (lots of fish, brown rice, veggies, fruit etc.)
The detox is 12 day and by the end of it I feel pretty good. I am on day 10 right now and have already lost a few pounds.
thats just a suggestion. I’ve done this detox 4 times now. It’s Canadian made and you can also buy a cookbook along with it to help you make yummy meals

Have you had your thyroid tested? An abnormally or non-functioning thyroid can cause a very low metabolic rate and make losing weight very difficult.
